Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “Main directions in Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the NATO consist of political dialogue, participation in peace support operations, fight against security threats, practical cooperation in the issues regarding security and defense reforms”, said the speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov at the 86th Rose Roth seminar of the NATO PA on “South Caucasus: Challenges and opportunities” in Baku. According to him, as Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, Azerbaijan and NATO relations raised to strategic partnership during 20-year period of membership in the Partnership for Peace Program.
Asadov touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and said that 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory has been occupied as a result of Armenia’s armed aggression, 1 mln persons have been internally displaced: “Azerbaijan has appealed to the international community with the demands of justice and execution of documents adopted by international organizations for many years”.
The speaker also mentioned 4 resolutions of the UN which have been ignored by Armenia for over 20 years.
Armenian delegation is also attending the seminar.
