Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloghlu – APA. “Azerbaijan and Russia are strategic partners,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the press conference following the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku, APA reports.
Lavrov said that the cooperation between the two countries is developing at bilateral and multilateral formats. He recalled the meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Vienna and noted that the soonest agreement on practical steps can be very good for both Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the entire region. The Minister said that they also discussed what is happening in Ukraine: “Two Russian journalists were killed in Ukraine yesterday. It shows the necessity for ceasefire and negotiations within the Principles of the Geneva Convention.”
He said that they also discussed preparations for the Caspian summit to be held in Astrakhan. Lavrov recalled Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship of the CoE Committee of Ministers and stressed the importance of cooperation within international organizations.
