Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. As part of the 23rd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Baku, a proposal of amendment to the draft resolution titled “Helsinki+40: Towards Human Security for All” on the call to reopening the OSCE Baku office was approved during the meeting of the Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions.
APA reports that the amendment was proposed by the parliamentarians from Sweden and Norway during the meeting chaired by chairwoman of the committee Isabel Santos. Item 45, which features the call to permitting to reopen the OSCE Baku office, has been added into the draft resolution. As a result of the voting, the amendment was approved.
During the discussion, MP Rabiyyet Aslanova expressed her objection to this issue and voiced the Azerbaijani side’s demand: “Our objection wasn’t unequivocally considered at the previous issue and the current one. For this reason, the Azerbaijani side strongly objects to the meeting being chaired by Isabel Santos”.
And Isabel Santos responded to Rabiyyet Aslanova: “You were allowed a speech when both issues were put forth, and you conveyed your objection. But this is a case that came about as a result of voting. So there’s nothing I can do”.
