Baku – APA. On July 7, the 5th session of heads of the diplomatic services of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President Ilham Aliyev attended the session and delivered a speech, APA reports.
The President said Azerbaijan’s foreign policy stands out with its independence and principality:
“Azerbaijan’s successful development and the full maintenance of our economic independence have paved the way for us to have a say in foreign arena and defend our interests”, he said.
Noting that the international image of the country is very positive, the President stressed the role of successful activity of the diplomatic bodies in this factor. Mentioning that the main priority of the foreign policy is a settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the President regretfully stressed the lack of results in this direction. The head of state noted that Azerbaijan intends to solve the issue peacefully, but the ineffectiveness of international law and key role of force factor do not rule out a military solution to the conflict. Therefore, the consistent policy on military build-up is right.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that the diplomats’ activities should be aimed at promoting the realities on Karabakh, including Irevan khanate. He reiterated the impossibility of establishing a second Armenian state in the territory of Azerbaijan, adding that the country will never allow it.
As for main priorities of foreign policy, the head of state said the relations with neighboring countries, except for Armenia, were built on a solid foundation and the relations with those countries were ensured in bilateral and multilateral formats. Noting the importance of a search for new forms of cooperation, the President talked about the relations with Muslim countries and stressed Azerbaijan’s contribution to the strengthening of Islamic solidarity. Stressing the fact that European countries are traditional partners of Azerbaijan, President Aliyev noted the existence of good opportunities for the development of bilateral relations. The head of state said the cooperation with Asian countries is developing rapidly.
President Aliyev wished diplomats success in their future endeavors.
