Guba. Vali Turan – APA. Participants of the 12th Baku International Conference of Ombudsmen have today visited the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex.

APA’s northern bureau reports that more than 30 Ombudsmen, their representatives, experts, representatives of international organizations and legal scholars from more than 15 countries were informed about the genocide committed by Armenians in Guba.

They were informed that more than 400 human bodies were found in Guba mass burial site, revealed in 2007, most of which belonged to children, women and the old men. The researches carried out by Archeology and Ethnography Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences revealed that they were local residents brutally killed by the Armenians at the beginning of the last century.

The guests were impressed with what they heard. Turkish representative Serpil Cakin told journalists that it is a terrible event that happened in the world: “There shouldn’t be genocide in the present-day world. Some countries claim about genocide, but we witnessed the fact here."

Ombudsman of the Orenburg region of Russia Anatoli Chadov said that their tasks are to prevent the recurrence of such incidents from now on.
