Hungary sees Azerbaijan as major energy partner â€“ FM

Baku. Rufat Ahmadzada – APA. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has received Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

The ministers held a joint press conference following the meeting dedicated to the development of bilateral relations, APA reports.

Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov noted that current Azerbaijani-Hungarian relations stand at a high level.

“It’s the fifth visit of Péter Szijjártó to Azerbaijan. The two countries have close friendships, and the trade turnover is gradually growing”, said the Azerbaijani FM.

Péter Szijjártó said in his turn as the co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Hungary intergovernmental joint commission, he is pleased with the development of relations between the two countries.

“Azerbaijan is one of the participants of the Eastern Partnership progamme, while Hungary is a member of the European Union. The growth of our relations is of importance to the EU as well. We see Azerbaijan as our major energy partner. Compared to 2013, the turnover between the two countries has increased by 18 percent this year. Our relations with Azerbaijan are on the rise. Our country is ready to allocate scholarships to 200 Azerbaijani students. I’m sure relations will develop even further after President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Hungary”, said the Hungarian FM.
