Bahar Muradova: Azerbaijan still expects OSCE to take unified position regarding problems on its territorial integrity

She said that Azerbaijan still expects the OSCE to take a unified position regarding the problems on its territorial integrity.

Muradova noted that there are several aspects of the religious and ethnic tolerance in Azerbaijan.

“One of them is a historical aspect. If we look back on several millennia of Azerbaijan’s history, we will see that regardless of their ethnic and religious identities, people coexisted in an atmosphere of mutual understanding in these territories. A number of conflicts, ethnic and religious conflicts, territorial claims and acts of aggression arisen from outside have never forced us to live with a sense of revenge, on the contrary, we tried to seek ways out of this situation. I think if in the various stages of the history of several thousands of years we have managed not to lose the sense that we are the sons of men, for this we first of all owe our character and national identity”, she said.

Muradova said national and religious tolerance in Azerbaijan absolutely manifests itself in the political sphere.

“The religious tolerance has politically reasonable grounds in Azerbaijan. One of the main priorities of the states historically existed in Azerbaijan’s territory was to ensure an integrated approach of the nations, ethnic groups and religious trends in the state. We have always treated people as citizens. Regardless of where they live, all nations, ethnic groups and religious communities live in peace and security. This is the Azerbaijani model, which differs in the OSCE area,” the vice-speaker added.
