Azerbaijani and Greek Presidents meet in Athena , several documents signed - UPDATED

A guard of honor was lined up for the Azerbaijani President in front of the Presidential Palace decorated with the state flags of the two countries.

Greek President Karolos Papoulias welcomed his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Greece were played. The Heads of State passed along the guard of honor.

Greek officials have been introduced to Ilham Aliyev, members of Azerbaijani delegations to Karolos Papoulias. Thereafter, the presidents held face-to-face meeting. The sides discussed political, economic and other cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece. Azerbaijan-Greece cooperation within the EU has also been stressed. It was noted significance of President Ilham Aliyev to Greece. They also discussed bilateral ties, other issues of mutual interesting.

Before the meeting with Karolos Papoulias, Azerbaijani president visited grave of unknown soldier and laid a wreath on it.

After face-to-face meeting, Ilham Aliyev Karolos Papoulias held held an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations. Following the meeting, sigining ceremony of Azerbaijan-Greece documents has been held. The presidents participated in the ceremony.

A contract on cooperation between Azerbaijani and Greek governments on Agriculture has been signed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos.

Memorandum on cooperation between Azerbaijani FM and Greek FM on EU issues has been signed by Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov and Greek FM Evangelos Venizelos.

Memorandum on cooperation between Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport and Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs has been signed Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sport and Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos.
