The embassy told APA that the ambassador delivered sincere greetings of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to Queen Elizabeth II at the presentation ceremony which took place at Buckingham Palace, saying he feels honored to be Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the UK.
T.Taghizade said relations between Azerbaijan and the UK are on the rise, noting that he in his new position will try to achieve the further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
Queen Elizabeth II in her turn greeted Tahir Taghizade and wished him success in his activities. Queen Elizabeth II also expressed her gratitude for President Ilham Aliyev’s sincere greetings and asked in her turn to deliver her greetings and wishes to the Azerbaijani head of state. The queen said she believes dynamic partnership built upon a sound foundation between the two countries will continue to develop.
After the presentation of the credentials the embassy offered repast on the occasion. Members of the House of Lords of the British Parliament, ambassadors of some countries to London, the doyen and the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, British Foreign Ministry officials and public figures were present at the repast.
Alistair Harrison, Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, wished success in his speech at the event to Azerbaijan’s news embassy to the UK and said he believes bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to develop.
Ambassador T.Taghizade spoke about the importance of the day, noting that the two countries are reliable partners. The ambassador also said Azerbaijan is interested to develop relations with the UK, stressing the existence of a great potential for bilateral cooperation in some new areas like education, health, finance, banking, tourism, and information technologies along with conventional areas like energy. He said he will spare no efforts to deepen this cooperation.
