Visegrad countries have mutual points and interests in cooperation with Azerbaijan, said Slovakia's ambassador to Azerbaijan Milan Lajcak, APA reports.
According to him, the war started by Russia in Ukraine led to various crises in all points of the world, which triggered a food crisis, energy crisis, and inflation.
According to Lajchak, the energy crisis showed itself in Europe too: “In this case, the European Union started to look for alternative sources and suppliers. Therefore, Azerbaijan plays a significant role in this field. Because Azerbaijan is a country that is an important supplier of gas and this country showed that it is interested in cooperation with the European countries in the energy field. The volume of the gas transported from Azerbaijan to Europe is not enough. Natural gas is not in the volume we want and need, because there is no appropriate infrastructure for it. Currently, discussions are being held with partners and interested parties on how to increase the volume of gas from Azerbaijan. We have close strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan in this field, and of course, our cooperation is not limited only to energy and gas. The South Caucasus region and the Visegrad countries were also affected by the global crises."
The Ambassador said that cooperation is important to overcome the current challenges and difficulties.
