We are aware of Azerbaijan's legitimate concerns regarding the activities of the European Union mission in Armenia, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said at a briefing today, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
According to her, it is well known what the employees of this so-called mission are doing.
"They are spying on Armenia's neighboring countries. Of course, they do not report to Yerevan, they do not contribute to stability in the region. As for the Russian military base stationed in Armenia, we have not received any signals from Yerevan about its potential withdrawal. Armenian officials confirm, publicly and otherwise, that such issues are not on the agenda. In Yerevan, they understand that the Russian military presence is a key element of the security architecture in the region, both for Armenia and the entire South Caucasus. This issue has never been raised in the context of relations between Armenia and Russia, as well as our relations with Azerbaijan," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized.
