Work is underway to enable citizens of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to travel mutually using only identity cards without passports, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev told APA.
The Secretary General noted that citizens of Azerbaijan and Türkiye can already travel using identity cards without passports: “We are also working to make this possible with other Turkic states. These countries are Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We can implement this together, not just with one country.”
He emphasized that the issue is on the OTS agenda:
“God willing, this is on our agenda. We are talking about five countries: Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Preparations are underway to complete the project as soon as possible.”
