On August 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received newly appointed Ambassador of Malaysia to Azerbaijan Aznifah Isnariah Binti Abdul Ghani, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
During the meeting, the ambassador presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
The minister congratulated the ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic activities in Azerbaijan.
The meeting included an exchange of views on the current state and prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-Malaysia bilateral relations, as well as issues of multilateral cooperation. In this context, opportunities to develop cooperation in the economic and trade, tourism, education and other fields and to increase joint efforts in areas of mutual interest were considered. Azerbaijan’s transit and logistics capabilities and its role in energy security were discussed.
Touching upon cooperation within international organizations, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of mutual support between Azerbaijan and Malaysia within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and D-8. In this context, it was noted that the existing friendly relations between the two countries are also accompanied by mutual support and solidarity on multilateral platforms.
During the conversation, preparations for the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), to be held in Baku this year, were discussed, and it was noted that Azerbaijan will host the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2027.
At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the current situation in the region and the restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in the post-conflict period.
The ambassador expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stated that during her diplomatic tenure, she would spare no effort to further develop friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
