Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubayli – APA. Rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Georgia Matyas Eorsi and Kastriot Islami issued a statement on the outcomes of their visit to Georgia, APA’s Strasbourg bureau reports. The rapporteurs noted the necessity of holding calm rallies on April 9 in Tbilisi and said it served the interests of both government and opposition. The authors of the statement expressed their concern over the tense political situation in the country and recommended the government agencies and organizers of the rally to reach an agreement on taking safety measures in the rallies scheduled for April 9.
“This dialogue will also strengthen mutual confidence,” they said.
PACE rapporteurs visited Georgia on March 25-27. They discussed the monitoring conducted on Georgia’s commitments before the Council of Europe, Georgia’s activity in connection with PACE resolutions adopted in 2008 and this year on the results of Georgia-Russia conflict.
