The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) has adopted the "Hague Declaration," which includes a critical resolution on Georgia, APA's local bureau reports.

The Georgian delegation left the plenary session during the vote on the declaration in protest.

The resolution, authored by US Congressman Joe Wilson, expresses concern over Georgia's parliamentary elections held on October 4, 2024, and criticizes several laws adopted in the country in recent times.

The OSCE PA called on the Georgian authorities to release "political prisoners" and repeal all legislative acts that restrict fundamental freedoms.

Speaking at the Assembly, Levan Makhashvili, a member of the Georgian delegation and Chairman of the Parliament's European Integration Committee, said that double standards do not strengthen the OSCE PA but instead destroy it from within. He called on the Assembly to rely only on facts.

Note that the Georgian authorities consider the resolution biased and describe the accusations contained in the document as unfounded and its assessments as one-sided. Georgia's Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated that the use of issues concerning Georgia for political purposes on international platforms is unacceptable.
