Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held one-on-one and expanded-format meetings with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan-Jordan friendship and partnership across political, economic, trade, humanitarian and other areas of cooperation, as well as regional and international issues on the agenda.

The ministers emphasized that the high-level political dialogue and mutual trust between the heads of state provide a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations.

They noted the importance of holding regular political consultations between the foreign ministries to further enrich the bilateral agenda and continue exchanges of views on regional and global developments.

The sides stressed the need to expand the legal and contractual framework for more systematic development of cooperation and to make more effective use of the Azerbaijan-Jordan Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to expanding economic cooperation. The importance of promoting mutual investments, implementing joint projects, strengthening ties between business circles, and increasing business visits and forums was emphasized.

The ministers noted that there are broad prospects for cooperation in industry, energy, transport, agriculture, digital development, food security and other fields. The Azerbaijani side invited Jordanian companies to benefit from Azerbaijan's transit and logistics opportunities, particularly the advantages offered by the Middle Corridor, as well as the favorable investment environment of the Alat Free Economic Zone.

The sides also exchanged views on expanding humanitarian cooperation, implementing joint projects in culture, science and education, and strengthening people-to-people ties.

They emphasized the importance of increasing mutual visits in the tourism sector and positively assessed the launch of Baku-Amman-Baku flights on May 28, 2026.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Ordinary Passports was signed. The sides stated that the document would make a significant contribution to the free movement of citizens and the expansion of tourism, economic, humanitarian and business ties.

During the visit, the ministers also signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Energy Sector between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The ministers reviewed cooperation within multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), expressing satisfaction with their partnership based on mutual support.

The sides also exchanged views on the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Baku Energy Week and several other international events held in Azerbaijan during the first half of 2026, as well as preparations for the CICA Summit to be held in Baku in October this year and next year's Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit.

During discussions on regional issues, the current security situation in the Middle East was reviewed. The ministers stressed that the crisis can only be resolved through political and diplomatic means and expressed support for the ongoing dialogue and negotiation process.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also briefed his counterpart in detail on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, the agreements reached during the historic summit held in Washington in August last year, and the current state of the peace process.

The sides also exchanged views on reconstruction and restoration efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, and the challenges posed by the mine threat.

The ministers emphasized that joint efforts to further develop the friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Jordan on the basis of mutual respect, trust and shared interests will continue.

Following the meetings, the ministers made statements at a joint press conference and answered questions from media representatives.

The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Jordan relations across political, economic, trade, humanitarian and other areas of cooperation, as well as regional and international issues on the agenda.
