The Kremlin has not seen Lithuania's decision to consider a bill allowing the deployment of nuclear weapons, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

He said that nothing good could be expected for the Baltic states.

Peskov stressed that the deployment of nuclear weapons would not contribute to the security of the Baltic states; on the contrary, it would force Russia to take countermeasures.

"To be honest, this is new information. I had not heard about it before. We know that Finland has also made a similar decision. The Baltic states will probably compete with Finland in making a similar decision. Contrary to the expectations of the countries making such a decision, it will not make them safer. On the contrary, it will significantly increase the level of danger for them, because countermeasures will be taken against such countries so that we can protect our interests," the Kremlin spokesman said.
