Ambassador: “Crisis in Kazakhstan will not effect on the activity of grain terminal in Baku”

Baku. Lachin Sultanova–APA. Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Serik Primbetov held press conference on Thursday in Baku. The ambassador presented to the journalists the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s address to the nation “Through Crisis to Renovation and Development”. Primbetov said his country faced with financial crisis later last year. Kazakhstan devaluated its national currency tengen for 25 percent. The banks were first to suffer from the crisis and first to be provided with assistance, said the diplomat. The government supported small and mid-size business and kept the housing development and mortgage credits in the focus of attention. He said number of foreign employees working in the country was reduced for 50 percent and replaced with the local staff.
Primbetov stated that the crisis in his country would not effect on the activity of grain terminal in Baku, the Azerbaijan-Kazakh joint venture. He said Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission would hold its meeting in Baku in April-May, 2009. The ambassador said he observed the referendum in Azerbaijan on March 18 and congratulated the Azerbaijani People on the results of the referendum.
