Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministers do not discuss extension of Gabala radar lease

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva–APA. Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministers didn’t discuss in Baku the extension of lease for Gabala radar station. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the briefing that the issue of Gabala radar station was not agenda, APA reports. The last agreement between the two countries concerning this military facility was signed in 2002 for 10 years and expired in 2012. According to the agreement, Russia pays $7 million to Azerbaijan per year for use of Gabala radar, which enables Russia to monitor air and cosmic space of Iran, Turkey, India, Iraq, Pakistan, part of China and other Asian countries, as well as African countries.
