20 January tragedy commemorated at Azerbaijan Trade and Culture Center in Washington â€“ <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION </font>

Washington. Zaur Hasanovâ€“APA. 19th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy was commemorated at the Azerbaijan Trade and Culture Center in Washington, APA reports. In his keynote speech, head of the center Mahir Iskander said the Soviet army committed bloody massacre in Baku over the night from January 19th to 20th, 1990. 134 civilians were killed and nearly 700 wounded during the massacre. There were 20 women and children among the victims.
After the Iskanderâ€™s speech, â€œThe Way Led to Bloody Januaryâ€, the documentary produced by Lider TV was shown at the event. Azerbaijani Ambassador to US Yashar Aliyev said 1990 January events was a bloody page in the Azerbaijanâ€™s history. The ambassador said 20 January tragedy played important role in the revival of Azerbaijani People.
