Azerbaijan considers proposals on Eastern Partnership

Baku. Lachin Sultanova–APA. “The last decision on Eastern Partnership program proposed by the European Commission will be passed next month,” Marcus Cornaro, Director of EuropeAid Co-Operation Office of European Commission told journalists, APA reports.
Mr. Cornaro stated that the program would officially be announced in the Summit “27+6” in Prague on May 7. He added that Azerbaijan was considering proposals on the program.
“Both EU and six member countries will undertake several commitments,” he said.
Asked whether Article on Human Rights and democracy exists in the project or not, Mr. Cornaro noted that such article was not included in the program. He mentioned that Action Plan signed between Azerbaijan and EU covered such Article and it was being implemented.
Philippe Jottard, Belgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan stated that establishment of Working Group on democracy and Human Rights was proposed within the framework of 2007 Action Plan. The Ambassador noted that such kind of group would be established soon under the chairmanship of Mahmud Mammadguliev, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister.
