Elmar Mammadyarov speaks to new Indian ambassador about issue casting shadow on bilateral relations

Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received newly-appointed ambassador of India Debnat Show. Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA that the ambassador presented copy of his credentials to the minister. Elmar Mammadyarov underlined the importance of establishing bilateral relations and relations within the framework of international organizations efficiently. Noting that restoration of the country’s territorial integrity was the main priority in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, Elmar Mammadyarov said the position of countries on Nagorno Karabakh conflict was very important in the relations with those countries. The minister said India’s voting in the UN General Assembly against the resolution on the situation in the occupied Azerbaijani territories cast shadow on the cooperation between the two countries and added that official Baku expected unbiased, fair and just approach from official Delhi to such issues as Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.
The ambassador said India recognized Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and noted that India voted against the resolution because of some misunderstandings. Debnat Show said he would his best to improve the relations between the countries.
