Baku. Victoria Dementyeva–APA. “One of the main goals of my visit to Azerbaijan is to discuss the Eastern Partnership initiative of the European Union”, Peter Semneby, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, told journalists in Baku on Tuesday, APA reports. He said the Eastern Partnership was in the form of initiative yet and was not elaborated as a program. “The initiative aims to develop relations between the European Union and the South Caucasus, as well as Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus. The proposals put forward cover particularly the spheres of trade, energy and regional stability. These proposals are taking specific features and tendencies of every country into the consideration”. Peter Semneby said the proposals made within the EU Eastern Partnership initiative would be discussed within three months.

Semneby said the European Union welcomed Moscow Declaration signed by Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia and they were hopeful for soonest meeting of President Ilham Aliyev and President Serj Sargsyan for developing of the dialogue. “The European Union will provide all assistances for the settlement of this conflict, but will not compete with the OSCE Minsk Group in this issue”.
