PACE Monitoring Committee discusses presidential elections in Azerbaijan

The Monitoring Committee co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel and other members of the Committee, who observed voting process in Azerbaijan on October 15, expressed opinions on the presidential elections. The co-rapporteur told APA their opinions were not different from what they said in Baku. â€œI said that there was technical progress in the elections, but if freedom was limited in the society, so there are problems thereâ€. The co-rapporteur said no documents were discussed at the meeting. The document about the elections will be discussed at the PACE meeting in Madrid later this month and at the January session. The Committee passed decision on the next visit of co-rapporteurs Andres Herkel and Eugenia Zivkova to Azerbaijan. Herkel said they expected to visit Azerbaijan in February.
