OSCE Office in Baku announces its 2007 priorities

Head of the OSCE Office in Baku, Jose Luis Herrero Ansola gave information about projects and activities for 2007 in the press conference today, APA reports.
Spanish diplomat noted that they will continue to cooperate both with the government and local institutions and will support them. The ambassador spoke about activities in military-political field and said that they will continue the implementation of the existing program. The main components of the program are reconsideration of instruction methods in Baku Police Academy, training courses for traffic police and public police project implemented in Mingechevir.
Office head said that in accordance with the law on freedom of peaceful assembly, training and a course will be given in regional police related to behavior during mass rallies.
The diplomat mentioned that as the budget of the office has risen, they will be able to provide training for courts. He said two additional staffs will be founded in the office concerning this case.
OSCE will pay attention to registration of political parties and NGOs and will assist establishment of NGOs net and organize forums in conjunction with foreign organizations.
The office will continue to support development of radio and public television, and their technical needs will be discussed jointly with local media outlets.
The office also will continue to support the government in international cooperation in fight against trafficking, migration policy.
The office head said they will especially pay attention to development of business environment in the regions. Stressing the importance of combating corruption, Jose Luis Herrero Ansola said an Anticorruption Center will be opened in Shaki in the framework of the project of Transparency-Azerbaijan. /APA/
