A new allowance and privilege have been established for diplomats called up for military service, APA reports.

This is reflected in the newly added Articles 13.14-1 and 13.14-2 of the Law on Diplomatic Service, the implementation of which was approved by President Ilham Aliyev through a decree.

According to the law, a diplomatic service employee whose service has been terminated due to being called up for compulsory military service or alternative service will be paid an allowance equal to three times their average monthly state salary.

Except in cases where the diplomatic service body is abolished, persons who served in a diplomatic position before being called up for compulsory military service will be appointed to their previous or an equivalent position in that body if they apply to resume their former diplomatic post no later than 60 calendar days after being discharged from military service.
