Nagorno Karabakh conflict reflected in â€œThe OSCE: Region of Changeâ€ report

Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. â€œDeplorably, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict continues to cost lives along the line of contact, and tensions in this region are still extremely highâ€, says that report of Lithuanian co-rapporteur of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vilija Aleknaite Abramikiene, APA reports. The abovementioned report will be discussed at the meeting of the OSCE PA General Committee on Political Affairs and Security which will be held in Monaco on July 5-9.

The situation on security issues, including the protracted conflicts in the OSCE area was reflected in the report called â€œThe OSCE: Region of Changeâ€. The document notes that the unresolved or protracted conflicts, which still exist in the OSCE region, remain one of the greatest threats to security and stability. The MP touched on Nagorno Karabakh conflict and called the sides to continue work on peace treaty: â€œAn important first step is to ensure that the ceasefire agreement is being respected and that snipers are withdrawn. It is also vital that full investigations are conducted when conflict-related incidents occurâ€. In accordance with the result of the reportâ€™s discussion in the committee, the declaration will be adopted in the annual session of the OSCE PA in Monaco.
