Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev receives US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Baku â€“ APA. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on June 6.

According to APA, welcoming the guest, the Head of State appreciated this visit of the US Secretary of State to Azerbaijan as an indicator of the friendly and partnership relations between the countries. Touching upon the issues of Azerbaijan-US cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, regional security, political reforms, the settlement of the conflict and other issues, President Aliyev underlined the successful development of the bilateral relations.

Hillary Clinton said she was happy to visit Baku again and to hold consultations with the President of Azerbaijan on bilateral relations. The US Secretary of State underlined the importance of the participation of the Azerbaijani President in NATO Chicago Summit.

Stressing the importance of the successful cooperation between the countries in many spheres, Clinton said her country was satisfied with the close strategic partnership relations with Azerbaijan. She underlined the important role of Azerbaijan in the region. Secretary Clinton said the bilateral relations had a large agenda.

The settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, extension of cooperation in the energy and other fields were discussed at the meeting.

On behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a lunch was given in honor of Secretary Clinton.
