This bill runs counter to the Constitution of France, undermines freedom of expression, freedom of scientific research,†Elnur Aslanov, chief of the political analysis and informational provision department of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration, said while commenting on the bill criminalizing the denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide†passed by the French Senate, APA reports. He said Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration and Foreign Ministry had officially commented on the issue.
“We call on France to demonstrate more constructive and rational position. If France is seeking truth, it had better discuss and give legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide committed 20 years ago, not the unproved event, which is claimed to have happened 100 years ago,†he said.
