Baku – APA. “The law adopted in France is not significant for us. This law which raises the medieval thought, first of all tramples the European values. We have expressed our position on this topic and warned. The senators who voted against the law are preparing to address the Constitutional Council. We haven’t lost our hope that this mistake will be corrected, said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his speech at the meeting of parliamentary faction of Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Erdogan said that they would not create a basis for French President Nicolas Sarkozy to gather political point from the disputes with Turkey: “This law is discrimination and racism, it is a campaign that kills the freedom of speech and is established on animosity against Turkey and is injustice toward the history of France and Europe. Those, who keep silent about it, turn a blind eye to the revival of fascism in Europe. I address the members of French parliament, French intellectuals and society: “It is neither a Turkey-France issue nor Turkey-Armenia issue. It is a discrimination and racism”.

Erdogan said it was ironical that Sarkozy’s grandfather was born and grew in Ottoman Empire’s Thessalonica (present Greece), his great-grandfather was a Jewish who was expelled from Spain and then niche himself in the Ottoman Empire. “The person, whose ancestors were from Ottoman Empire, can’t overshadow the Ottoman tolerance”.

Prime Minister said that Turkey would remain calm and behave with dignity characteristic of a great nation. “We will apply the sanctions stage-by-stage without dropping behind. We are still exercising patience and watch the developments. We will pass the necessary decision and make the sanction plan public”.
