Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubeyli – APA. Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland delivered speech at the plenary meeting of the PACE winter session today. Then Jagland answered the questions of the parliamentarians. Answering the question of the member of Armenian delegation Naira Zohrabyan about the French parliament’s draft law criminalizing the denial of made-up “Armenian genocideâ€, Jagland reminded that the historic issues should be researched by the historians. “I wouldn’t like to give political value to the historic issues. Let the historians to deal with the historic issues. It is not correct for the politicians to assess it. Turkey proposed to establish commission of historians to investigate “Armenian genocide†claims five years ago, but this proposal was left unansweredâ€.
