He said the issue was in the process of discussions due some bureaucratic reasons. (Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman proposed visa-free travel for the diplomats during his visit to Azerbaijan).

The ambassador said negotiations about the gas export from Azerbaijan to Israel were also continued. “Israel found natural gas among its resources, but general picture for the gas transportation from Azerbaijan to Israel should be clear. After that we will see what position Israel takes”. (Israel intended to purchase 12 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas during 10 years and planned to start gas import in 2012).

Answering the question about the plans of Israel’s Arkia air lines to carry out flights to Azerbaijan, Lothem said this was a business. He said tourism was rapidly developing in Azerbaijan, new hotels and roads were constructed. “I have visited Gabala few days ago. I saw new hotels and innovated roads there. We are witnessing a number of changes in the old city. This is an indication of the development of tourism. It will cause tourist flow to this country”. The ambassador said Arkia was learning the issue of flights to Azerbaijan from the point of economic view.
