Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. “Trade turnover between Israel and Azerbaijan has doubled,” Israel’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Michael Lavon-Lotem told journalists, APA reports. He said this figure had gone down in the economic relations with other post-Soviet countries.

The ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the visits from Israel to Azerbaijan.
“A number of state officials, businessmen and government representatives pay visits to Azerbaijan. Israeli Minister of Energy will visit Baku in June. Other visits are also scheduled, but it is still early to give information about them. I am very glad that there is a lot of sympathy in Israel to Azerbaijan and its people,” he said.

Assessing the prospects of Israeli businessmen’s investments in Azerbaijan’s economy, the diplomat said the businessmen were mainly interested in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare and technologies in our country.
“More work is being done in agriculture at present. There are important issues, new programs on the table concerning the cooperation in healthcare. These projects will serve the development of healthcare in Azerbaijan,” he said.

Asked about the initiative raised in the Knesset on the recognition of the “Armenian genocide”, the ambassador said Israeli parliament has over 120 members.
“Each of them can say something, express view,” he said.
