Turkish FM: “Armenia – Azerbaijan problem resolution as well as liberation of Azerbaijan’s lands from occupation is the component of our mission†- UPDATED
“After the discussions some issues got clarified and I got a detailed information about the Washington talksâ€, - Azerbaijani FM underscored.
Turkish FM expressed his content of mutual intercourse-based activity with Azerbaijan in all issues and at all stages: “We attach a great importance to it. I firstly discussed the latest processes with the president Ilham Aliyev and then FM E. Mammedyarov. Before Nuclear Security Summit, held in Washington, chief of Turkey FMA Apparatus Firudin Siniroglu arrived in Azerbaijan and got acquainted Baku’s official position to this issue. Within the summit we got pretty much meetings. In all meetings our main purpose was the continuation of the processes targeted to the peace, security and stability in the Caucuses. Prior to it, our mission was the same. Armenia – Azerbaijan problem resolution as well as liberation of Azerbaijan’s lands from occupation is the component of our missionâ€.
A. Davudoglu said that a target of Azerbaijan and Turkey is overt: “This target is the normalization of all relations in the Southern Caucasus, opening the borders, security and reciprocal confidence for commencement new stage. We hope, we’ll succeed it by OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts. Tomorrow’s visit of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to Azerbaijan is also important. We’ll keep on our intercourse with all parties as well as our efforts to attain the aimâ€.
Turkish FM noted that more tension in the region is not desirable: “We closely watch the processes occurring around the Madrid principles. Before Washington visit we together with the Prime Minister met the French President Nicola Sarkozy in Paris. Late on, in Washington we met another OSCE Minsk co-chair country’s President Barack Obama. Our Prime Minister met Russian President. We overtly conveyed our message to all co-chair countries and Armenia. There is a real window of opportunity around the Madrid principles, which is the subject of negotiations. Everyone should use this opportunity. Instead of playing with time, all parties must make efforts for getting solution based on these principles. Turkey brings up this issue as the main subject at all international gatheringsâ€.
In turn, Elmar Mammedyarov noted that it’s early to tell about the probability of any vast advancement in Nagorno Garabagh problem settlement: “For us the main important thing is to revive the processes of Nagorno Garabagh problem settlement by Turkey’s boostâ€.
Azerbaijani FM answered also the question concerning his Iranian counterpart Manichohr Mottaki’s offer to hold a joint meeting of Azerbaijani, Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers: “We want the soonest peace and stability in the Southern Caucasus. The ways for getting the peace and stability are also important. Iran is the country of this region as well. For Iran it’s also important to get the soonest peace and stability in the Southern Caucasus. We welcome any initiative able to help in liberation of Azerbaijan’s occupied lands and IDPs homecomingâ€.
