Estonian President: â€œAzerbaijan assumes a special importance to Europeâ€™s futureâ€

Baku â€“ APA. As a leading country of the Caspian region Azerbaijan has been the main player of the energy sector over the centuries. We can note with certainty that Azerbaijan and Estonia are not the competing countries, they are the countries supplementing one anotherâ€, APA reports quoting AzeTac news agency.

Estonian President stated in the joint press conference after the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

The Estonian President also said that his country, as a member of the European Union, wants EU to keep more upholding position in Azerbaijanâ€™s affiliation to the World Trade Organization as well as other important issues: â€œAs the member of the European Union Estonia is interesting in establishment closer relations with Azerbaijan. I believe, Azerbaijan assumes a special importance to Europeâ€™s future. Independently of Europeâ€™s future, Azerbaijan will remain one of the important partners and neighbors of the Europeâ€.

Toomas Hendrik Ilves said that Azerbaijani Presidentâ€™s visit to Estonia concurs with one hundredth anniversary of Azerbaijanâ€™s Estonian community: â€œExactly 100 years ago the Estonian community was officially registered. The Estonian community â€œSabahâ€ (Tomorrow) is 100 years oldâ€.
