Elkhan Polukhov: â€œArmenia can eliminate the threat of military phase of the conflict by the withdrawal of its occupying forces from the territories of Azerbaijanâ€

He said Azerbaijan always declared its position clearly. â€œUnfortunately when the Armenian president called on Azerbaijan to reach an agreement about non-use of force he didnâ€™t add other principle of renewed Madrid proposals to that. The Armenian president didnâ€™t complete the sentence in his speech. Indeed the principles of respect for territorial integrity and non-use of force were included in the new version of Madrid proposalsâ€.

Polukhov said Azerbaijan made statement on all principles of the new version of Madrid proposals. â€œIt depends just on Armenia not to reiterate the military rhetoric. For that the Armenian occupying forces must be univocally withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. By this step, Armenia can eliminate the threat and rhetoric of military phase of the conflictâ€.

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan told Euronews that he intended to call on Azerbaijan to sign an agreement about non-use of force. He said it would help Armenian and Nagorno Karabakh people to understand that Azerbaijan supported the peaceful solution to the conflict.
