US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon: US Government hopes for quick progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement

Washington. Isabel Levineâ€“APA. The US Government hopes for quick progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement, US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon told APAâ€™s Washington correspondent, APA reports quoting Washington DC correspondent.
Mr. Gordon said the United States stand ready to help in any way that it can. "The United States is certainly very much focused on it and engaged in it, I would be reluctant to put a timetable on when I think this problem would be resolved, but I do think there recently has been progress," he added.
Assistant Secretary believes any contact and dialog among the parties is a good thing, so the more of that the better".
According to him, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is important itself independently of any other issue, however, it remains one of the main issues in the region as well as Energy and Turkey-Armenia normalization.
â€œBut, these three important matters should both support each other and be separated. Because if these issues are mixed with each other, it will be even more complicatedâ€ â€“ US top official stated.
According to Mr. Gordon, Nagorno-Karabakh is also important "not because we see it as a link to Turkey Armenian relationship, but because it could be also a contribution to peace and stability in the region, that both Azerbaijan and Armenia would benefit from. It is something we care about and would like to see succeed".
