CICA top officials end meeting in Baku

Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. Top officials of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) ended their meeting in Baku. According to APA, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Nurlan Ermekbayev held a press conference on the results of the meeting and called Azerbaijan an active member of the organization. â€œAzerbaijan is one of the CICA co-founders. It takes active part not only in elaboration of the documents, but also in organizing the events within the framework of this processâ€. Ermekbayev said Baku meeting aimed to hold preparations for 3rd CICA Summit to take place on June 8, 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey. He said Vietnam was expected to join CICA in that summit. In Baku, CICA officials discussed Draft Convention on Immunities and Privileges and submitted the draft of Political Declaration of 3rd CICA Summit and Turkeyâ€™s Concept as CICA president in 2010-2012. The participants also discussed joint measures for combating illicit drug trafficking, the issues related to information technologies and environment. The next meeting is expected to take place in Kazakhstan within the third ten-day of April.
