Azerbaijan hosts conference on “NATO - A factor of peace and democracy for 60 years”

Baku. Viktoriya Dementyeva-APA. Baku host conference on “NATO - A factor of peace and democracy for 60 years” initiated by Azerbaijan Atlantic Cooperation Association. NATO’s role in maintenance of security and peace in the past, today and future, development of cooperation between North Atlantic Alliance and South Caucasus countries and policy based on reforms in the democracy and security sector in the alliance partner countries were in the focus of attention at the event.

President of Atlantic Treaty Association Karl Lamers, Romanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolae Ureki, U.S. representative to NATO Jennifer Davis, Nika Chitadze from Tbilisi State University, local experts, specialists, politicians and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan are attending the event.

Lamer told journalists that the purpose of the conference was to conduct negotiations with NATO’s partner countries, as well as with Azerbaijan. He noted the importance of this cooperation: “NATO faces with new threats, calls for terrorism, climatic change and etc... No country can fight against it independently. The strengthening of further cooperation is necessary for all sides”.
