Washington. Isabel Levine – APA. The US House Foreign Affairs Committee voted narrowly today to condemn as “genocide” the mass killings of Armenians early in the last century.

According to APA’s Washington correspondent, the vote on the resolution, a perennial point of friction addressing a dark, century-old chapter of Turkish history, was 23 to 22.

Suat Kiniklioglu, a Turkish Member of Parliament in Washington who met with the US lawmakers earlier during the hearing, told APA’s Washington correspondent what Congress did today, it it the step back in terms of the Turkish-US relations. According to him, this decision disappointed the people of Turkey.
