Khalaf Khalafov: â€œIranâ€™s activities concerning the oil exploration in the Caspian do not contradict Azerbaijanâ€™s sovereign rightsâ€

These states have the right to use the sea equally. We are also aware of Iranâ€™s activities and it does not contradict Azerbaijanâ€™s sovereign rights,â€ Azerbaijanâ€™s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told journalists, APA reports.

Khalafov mentioned that Azerbaijan and Iran were holding talks on the delimitation of the Caspian and underlined that Iranâ€™s activities did not contradict the delimitation.

Deputy Foreign Minister said the preparations for the summit on the legal status of the Caspian had not started yet, the meeting would be scheduled after the agenda was agreed.
â€œThe agenda is being discussed,â€ he said.

Khalaf Khalafov said that the summit might be scheduled at the meeting of deputy foreign ministers of the littoral states on March 11-12.
He underlined that the Caspianâ€™s security would also be discussed at the meeting.

Khalaf Khalafov said some progress had been made concerning the delimitation of the borders between Azerbaijan and Georgia and added that there were coordinated and still open points.
