Roland Kobia appointed Permanent Representative of the European Union at the Business Club of the Caspian to European integration

Baku. Lachin Sultanova - APA. Permanent Representative of the European Union in Azerbaijan Roland Kobia was appointed Permanent Representative of the Business Club of the Caspian to European integration, APA reports. He was awarded the corresponding certificate at today’s meeting of the club. President of the Club Telman Aliyev reported that as of today, Business Club Caspian European integration will be called the Caspian club of European integration. He also noted that the initiative to appoint a permanent representative of the EU in the club had been put forward during EU Commissioner for Energy Piebalgs’ visit to Baku as a guest of the club. Aliyev said that all foreign ambassadors in Azerbaijan are honorary members of the club. Appropriate certificates were awarded to the ambassadors participating at the meeting.
Delivering a speech before the members of the Club, Roland Kobia spoke about cooperation between EU and Azerbaijan in energy security issues within the framework of the "Eastern Partnership". He noted that they should diversify the transportation energy to ensure energy security. Recalling the "Contract of the Century" in the early 90’s, the ambassador noted that a new ambitious agreement in gas field must be signed in the beginning of the new century. Replying to questions, Kobia stressed that Azerbaijan has good potential for further development of alternative energy sources.
Making a speech at the meeting, Bulgarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasily Kalinov spoke about the prospects of cooperation between the two countries and noted that it is very important to increase the performance of tourism at least 4 times.
