Movlud Chavyshoglu: â€œRussian ratifying of Protocol 14 is a sign of will which is to become a leading political actor within the European Councilâ€

Russia demonstrated it strong will of becoming a leading political actor within the Organization by ratifying Protocol 14 of European Convention on Human Rights, PACE President Movlud Chavushoglu noted during the ministerial conference devoted to the â€œFuture of European Human Rights Courtâ€ in Swiss city of Interlaken.

â€œRussia conveyed a strong message today by this step. First of all, it is a sign of Russian will which is to become a leading political actor within the European Council. This shows that Russia is loyal to the European values of laws and human rights and inspires Russian courts to consider decisions of European Convention on Human Rights and Strasbourg Courts regarding its lawsâ€, the PACE President said.

According to Movlud Chavushoglu, this ratification will allow to speed up efficient works regarding the court complaints received in the past. â€œAs a new PACE President I will do my utmost by increasing our efforts to provide high level cooperation between the European Council and Russia as well as support this cooperation in various fields including political and technical supportâ€, he added.
