University of Jordan hosts Azerbaijani exhibition

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva â€“ APA. University of Jordan, a leading university of the Kingdom of Jordan hosted Azerbaijani exhibition recently, Azerbaijani embassy in Jordan told APA. The exhibition was organized on the initiative of Azerbaijani student educated at the University of Jordan R. Aliyev and under the auspices of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Embassy of Azerbaijan in Jordan.

Photos of Azerbaijanâ€™s historic-cultural monuments, as well as architectural masterpieces were displayed at the exhibition. A large monitor was installed in the room for screening of documentary about Azerbaijan. Visitors had an opportunity to enjoy with the pieces of Azerbaijani national and classic music, to see Azerbaijani carpets and to taste Azerbaijani sweetmeats (shekerbura, pakhlava, mutaki) and Azerbaijan-produced juices.

Head of the Foreign Languages Center of the University of Jordan A. Faouri and First Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Jordan Kenan Murtuzov opened the exhibition. The embassy official said the exhibition aimed to give an opportunity to the local and foreign students and professors of the university to learn the Republic of Azerbaijan, its culture and history and to develop relations between the peoples and countries according to the intentions of the Azerbaijani and Jordanian leaders.

Azerbaijan and the University of Jordan are working together. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the university during his visit to Jordan in 2007 and the President was awarded with the title of Honorable Doctor of the university. Azerbaijani delegation headed by the Minister of Education Misir Mardanov also visited the university in 2009 and negotiated the cooperation issues with the universityâ€™s administration. The university of Jordan and Baku State University are planning to sign a memorandum of understanding to establish cooperation between them in future.
