Co-rapporteurs to submit first version of report on Azerbaijan on March 17

Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee Andres Herkel and Josef Debona Grech are planning to submit first version of their report on Azerbaijan on March 17, 2010, the co-rapporteurs said at the press conference dedicated to the results of their visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Herkel said they held different meetings during the visit and added that the Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg would also visit Azerbaijan in March, 2010.
The co-rapporteurs said they exchanged opinions about the socio-political situation in the country, freedoms of speech and press in Azerbaijan, activity of the non-governmental organizations and other issues.
Grech emphasized that he visited Azerbaijan for the first time and he had certain idea about the country after the meetings he held in Baku.
