Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan: There is no obstacle for the expansion of the relations between the two countries – INTERVIEW
-I greet friendly Azerbaijani people and congratulate Iranian people, all freedom-loving people of the world, you and those who use the service of APA Information Agency on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Iran Islamic revolution. The most important achievement of the Islamic revolution is that the political structure in the country was Islamic and republican. As a result of the revolution, Iran was rescued from the colonial dependence of the West and especially America. Political dependence is a great achievement for our country in the foreign policy, in the struggle against tyranny and injustice. Due to the political independence reliance on the divine will, confidence in power became the main factor in economy, industry and technology. Iran’s present achievements in industry and science were possible due to the reliance on the divine will, confidence of people and resolution of the young generation. Iran is one of the leading countries in industry, medicine, production of specialized medications, stem cell technology, air space industry, missile industry, artificial satellites, peaceful nuclear energy, processing industry, petrochemistry. Iran is the 24th in science with 17,000 scientific articles of young scientists. A number of other achievements of the revolution, nuclear knowledge of our scientists and achievements in medicine are known to everybody.
-What is the most memorable point in the bilateral relations in 2009?
-Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Iran and his meetings with the leader of the revolution and president of Islamic Republic of Iran are memorable and very important for the future of the relations between the two countries. Another memorable moment in the relations is the visit of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to Tehran and the visit of vice-president of Iran Mashai to Baku.
-What do you think about the gas agreement?
-Gas agreement between the two countries is one of the forms of the development of cooperation in the region, the indicator of the presidents’ resolution to extend the relations. I think, the implementation of 5 billion cu m gas agreement may become an important factor of the economic relations between Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan.
-Will the situation arisen after the presidential elections be settled in Iran?
-Difference of opinions and its expression is a sign of democracy in the country. Political competition is one of the ways to reflect the will of each citizen. It is an acceptable case and different mechanism is considered for expansion and legalization of Iran’s political system and Constitution. But political competition is unacceptable without law and moral frame. It is pity that several internal political powers discredited 43 million peoples’ activity in elections being supported by the propaganda and instigation of the Western Mass Media and regional Mass Media.
There are majority and minority in every competition. The minority must join the opinion of the majority, become subordinate to its will and not to harm political moral. Last months’ demonstration of Iranian people held in order to support government and leader showed that the main part of the population support its political system and leader. To them, political competition is a necessary thing, but political immorality is unacceptable. You see, even supporters of candidates reject them and boycotted the trouble-makers when they saw political speculation.
-What new projects are expected between Iran and Azerbaijan?
-There aren’t any obstacles on the way of expansion of the relations between the two countries. Both presidents try to enlarge these relations in all spheres and our efforts must be directed to help to realize their will. Many economic and political projects are expected in the future. But it would be better to speak about them in its time and place.
