Washington University workshop shows map of “Historic Armenia†covering territories of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran and Iraq

Baku – APA. George Washington University Law School held a workshop “Turkish-Armenian protocols: realities and myths†in Washington DC. A map behind the speakers’ rostrum caused a scandal during the workshop, APA reports quoting Turkish newspaper “Vatanâ€. It was a map of “Historic Armeniaâ€, the Armenian schizophrenic myth, which covered the territories of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran and Iraq. Turkish ambassador to the United States expressed protest and said the map was contrary to the workshop subject. He emphasized the workshop didn’t invite any expert that could express Turkey’s position and violated the principle of neutrality. The Turkish diplomat said 1915 events were discussed from the Armenian point of view despite that Armenian rejected Turkey’s official proposals to establish joint commission for investigation of Armenian claims and to open archives.
One of the workshop speakers, professor of the George Washington Law School Sean Murphy acknowledged that he took the map from Google and expressed regrets. “If only we didn’t to place this map. I ask pardon for thatâ€. Murphy also responded to remarks that the Turkish side was not invited to the workshop and said every desirous person could join this event.
