Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-ECONOMICS. The British investors have a leading position among foreign investors making investment in Azerbaijan, said former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

He said that the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan are closely cooperating in many areas in addition to capital investment.

He also described 100 day long Azeri culture and art events in the United Kingdom as a move to further expand relations between the two countries.

Speaking about the global financial crisis, Mr Blair stressed that the post-crisis period will require the re-regulation of the global economy and the issue should be addressed at the global level.

As to his visit to Baku, he said that Azerbaijan has always attracted his interest but couldn’t have time for personal visits when he was prime minister.

In his words, he will be looking forward to his next trip to Azerbaijan.

Tony Blair travelled to Azerbaijan to attend a signing ceremony between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo), a locally-owned private company, for $120 million financing package to finance the construction of a methanol plant.
