Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev - APA. Azerbaijani and Turkish parliamentarians held a press conference on the results of forum “Turkey-Azerbaijan: common interests and problems” held in Milli Mejlis on April 15, APA reports. Chairman of Azerbaijan Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party Fazail Aghamali said they had successful discussions at the forum. They emphasized that Nagorno Karabakh problem must always be first in the negotiations with Armenia alongside with the Armenian territorial and false “genocide” claims.

Turkish MP from the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Shukru Elekdagh said they discussed common problems. He said there were historic, national, religious and cultural ties, as well as strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey. “Armenians shouldn’t be awarded with the opening of borders without liberation of Azerbaijani lands from the occupation. We want Armenia to withdraw its forces from the Azerbaijani lands in a short time. Such meetings must be held regularly to discuss the problems”.

Turkish MP from the National Movement Party (MHP) Attila Kaya said the Turkey-Armenia borders couldn’t be opened without Armenia’s recognition of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and added that 99 percent of Turkey’s population think so.

Chairman of the All Azerbaijan People’s Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliyev said Turkish authorities left the idea to open the borders under the pressure of public communities of both countries. “There is still a threat of border opening. This issue can be put on agenda again under the international pressure”.
