US President Donald Trump has said that he will hold a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin today, APA reports.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Trump said that Putin wants to end the war.
"I will speak with Putin today. He wants to end the war. Many people do not believe that," the US President said.
It should be noted that the last phone conversation between the Russian and US presidents took place on July 4.
Trump noted that significant progress has been made in recent weeks toward ending the war in Ukraine.
"We are putting pressure on Putin. He does not like what is happening," he stressed.
The US President added that work on a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia has been underway for a long time and that the agreement has both advantages and disadvantages.
Trump also said that Washington has not set any deadline regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Commenting on the possibility of visiting Ukraine, the US President said:
"I will come to Ukraine. But I don't know whether the security service will allow it during the war. It would be good to visit Kyiv. However, I would prefer to do so after the war is over."
